Poppies-A Symbol To Remember

We have read the poem, “In Flanders Fields”, talked about what Remembrance Day is all about  and the symbols we have around this special day.

Today we used our art skills to create a piece of art with a Remembrance Day theme.  We used black because we decided that it is the colour that reminds us of fighting, anger, and sadness.  We used green because that colour makes us think of growth, hope and new beginnings.  We used red because it is the colour of blood but also a warm colour that makes us remember that  soldiers are good people fighting for positive things.

We also thought about some elements of design.  One of our goals was to use space, thinking of filling the top, middle and bottom. We also used paint and brushes to create texture.

VENN DIAGRAMS

Sorting things with 2 attributes is tricky!

Venn diagrams are something that you make with to circles attached together then you label them. They look like two beach balls mixed together sorta. We use the venn diagrams to sort things and see where they go. Sometimes they’re hard sometimes they’re not. Venn diagrams mostly have 2 subjects.  Heres a example things that go in water and things that fly.

Quote of the Week- November 5

This week our quote to focus on is:

You always pass failure on the way to success! written by Andy Rooney

During our community circle today we discussed what this quote means to us. We decided that it means we will not be able to do something new perfectly the first time we try or even the second or third time. But if we keep trying we will succeed! We need to remember not to get discouraged when we make mistakes but rather learn from them in order to be more successful the next time.

Students/Visitors:  Tell us about something that you had to keep practising before you were successful.
