Welcome Class of 2023-24

Hello families and students! Welcome to a new school year at Mundy’s Bay!  This classroom blog is a space for our class to showcase our learning.  Posts will be added weekly so be sure to check back frequently.  Students will also use this blog to write and respond. They love to see comments about our posts so please take a few moments, when you can, to give us some feedback and ask questions!

This is a space where you can be informed about the learning that is happening in our classroom. I will try my best to keep the Google Calendar up to date so be sure to check that page for special events. Have fun exploring all that is here!

Our Community Agreements

We have established 4 agreements to make our classroom community a safe, positive environment for all!

  1. Right to Pass
  2. Attentive Listening
  3. Appreciation
  4. Mutual Respect

We engaged in chart writing, drama skits, a tower of scenarios, and role-play as we explored each one and established it’s meaning. Then we moved on to an art project to symbolize our agreement to adhere by these.

First, students traced their hands and outlined with a Sharpie.

Next, they added their names, a heart, and designs to make the hands personal.

Then they used water, brushes, and markers to paint the hands.

The hands are now posted in our classroom to remind us everyday that our classroom is a

Safe, Positive, Learning Environment!

The Ideal Classroom!

As we began to get to know each other, students had a chance to share their thoughts about what would make the ideal classroom.  At this point we talked about the physical features and things that would make a classroom a positive place to be.  As the month progresses we’ll share and establish ideas about actions and routines that will build a positive community in our classroom.

Check out the fun and creative ideas the students have!

Welcome to grade 3!

I’m really looking forward to getting to know all of my new students and their families and friends!  I know this will be a positive year of learning for all of us..

Please sign your child’s agenda each night.  This is a great way for us to communicate and keep ourselves organized.  You may also check the class calendar (click on the page at the top of this blog) for events that are happening. I will also post things that have been sent home and due dates to help all of you keep track of any paperwork.

As well as checking this blog, which both myself and students will be posting on often, be sure to check out our class Twitter feed (@HackettStudents).

Classroom Agreements

Our classroom agreements are now complete.  I believe that these 4 agreements are so important that it takes us a full 2 weeks to explore them.  We’ve talked about them, read about them, thought about examples of them, practised them, displayed them, and continue to talk about them each and everyday.

Room 102 is a unique community made up of a group of amazing learners and teachers!  All of us play both roles everyday!  In order for that to happen successfully we only need to follow 4 agreements.  With these agreements our community is a safe and positive place to be!
