The Kindness Tree

This December we are focusing on Kindness.  We began with a blank tree. Students cut out and decorated 14 ornaments to decorate the tree – one for each school day in December. Each morning we turn over another ornament and read the message.  Each message inspires us to carry out an act of kindness.

Below is a digital version of our tree that you can enjoy with family at home!

Oh Deer!

Over the past three days students have been hard at work creating some reindeer!

This visual arts activity started out with 2 stories about reindeer “Olive the other Reindeer” and “The Littlest Reindeer”.  Students made a lot of personal connections as we discussed the characters’ experiences and feelings.

Then, the students moved to the art table.  They made painted handprints for the antlers and used a lot of cutting skills to create the other features of the reindeer’s head. A pompom for a nose and a drawn mouth finished it off.
