Responding To A Read Aloud

Today we used a few of the strategies from our Reading Cafe to help us think while reading the last chapters of the BFG.  Students thought about visualizing, tuning-in to interesting words, check for understanding, and back-up and reread.  Students documented their thinking as we read by sketching, recording words and phrases they heard, ideas they had, and predictions they thought about. As you can see, lots of thinking was happening!  READING IS THINKING!!

Students:  Look at your Thinking Sheet and some of those belonging to your classmates.  Now think about your reading goal.  What will you be sure to add to your Thinking Sheet the next time?  What would you do the same or differently the next time

Visitors:  Please give us some feedback!  What did we do well when recording our thinking?
