We first read the story, “Stone Soup” by Jon Muth. Then, as a next step in our procedural writing unit we wrote a procedure for making stone soup together, as a class. When we finished many of us had ideas about what was good about our procedure and what we should do to revise it. Today we read the text: A View From Above. First we read it for enjoyment. Then we read it like a writer. We searched for words that the writer used to help the reader make pictures in his mind. We posted the words we found on a Wall. Check it out on our blog page, “A Page Of Walls”. We were then able to all see the words, read them, and talk about them together!
