This has been the most challenging form of poetry for us yet! Students were challenged to a two line poem with the last word of each rhyming but to also add some “spice” so that the two lines tell more than a simple thought. Some couplets we wrote as a class were:
I was riding on a camel’s hump.
When it sneezed it made me jump!
I saw an animal running loose.
Running loose was a big, white goose!
Below are some couplets students created on their own using a variety of topics.
