For the past week we have been talking about probability in math. We’ve conducted a few experiments and played some games. Now it’s time to show me what you know!
Let’s review the game that we played: Take Off
- You placed 12 counters on a game card. You could place as many counters in each column as you wanted and even leave some columns empty.
- Then you took turns rolling a die. You removed a counter if it was in a number column that matches the number shown on the die.
- The first player who removed all his or her counters won the game.
Look at the game cards below.
- Which player do you think will win the game? Justify your answer! Remember to use probability vocabulary.
- How would you place the counters? What strategies would you use to help you win the game?
