A Perfect Day! (for art, that is!)

Today’s art lesson started off with a read aloud:  A Perfect Day by Carin Berger.

Then, since the snow was not cooperating with us and there was too much ice outside, we used our drama and visualization skills to make snow angels in our classroom!  We outlined our “angels” with string so that we could examine the shapes.

Next, it was time to paint the background and our snow angel shadows.

After that we discussed the word, “symmetrical” and created symmetrical jackets, adding lots of careful details.

Once our jackets were done, it was time to glue them to the background and add a head, arms, legs, and boots.

The last step:  The Snow!

I think you’ll agree, these snow angels are a great motivation to get outside and have some fun in the snow!
